ESÔ
ESÔ is a book that describes, in detail, the naturally occurring geometric shapes and patterns that are inherent throughout our entire universe. Esoteric geometry has always been a fascination of mine, and this book is the culmination of a few years worth of passive interested article skimming, and two months worth of solid designing, researching, and writing. Essentially, the book discusses the concepts theorized by the ancient occult mystery schools of Pythagorean geometry and Egyptian numerology. ESÔ moves through the three major transformations required to manifest a conscious physical cosmos capable of experiencing itself, starting with the two dimensional base forms, then the three dimensional Plutonic solids, ending with fractals. The goal behind ESÔ is to make clear, the relationship between these naturally occurring forms that make up the grand design that is existence, and our very own concept of design itself.

COLOR CHOICE
Duality is the most basic state of nature; life and death, order and chaos, void and matter etc. Life is built around the premise that every state of being has its natural opposite, and together these opposites make a balanced whole. Many religions hold similar ideas of duality; heaven and hell, yin and yang. Even the indelible laws of physics are based upon the principle that every action has an equal and opposite reaction. People tend to confuse duality with polarity, This is not good Vs evil, it's black and white. Duality is the codependent relationship developed between two equal but opposite forces of one singularity, resulting in universal cycles between opposing forces which assure that the one true constant is that everything is in a state of constant change at all times. This constant state of change is exactly what allows for the development, adaptation, and evolution of life. Life is black and white.

TYPE
Applying the principal of duality to typography can be an extremely useful way to mix serif and sans serif type faces. Bulmer is a transitional serif with great contrast between thick and thin strokes which accentuate it's subtle but elegant curves that mimic those found in nature. Univers is an extremely geometric sans serif with an almost machine made symmetry and an X height similar to that of Bulmers. The two are dissimilar in almost every characteristic, but their differences only strengthen each others greatest qualities.

CHAPTER
ESÔ is divided into three sections. Each section discuses a specific geometric dimension or sub division. Each chapter works as a transformation where the content of every page shares a direct relationship with all preceding pages. The goal is to illustrate the universal transformation from singularity to three dimensionality.
