TDS Educational Signage
This was a really awesome project I was given the opportunity to work on. Keene State College had just built a fancy new building on campus called the TDS center, which would house the architecture, sustainable product design and safety departments. The building was designed with sustainability in mind, unfortunately, it's only LEED certified so we can't really give it to much praise. The coolest aspect about the TDS is that the building itself was meant to be used as a teaching tool. Two of my classmates and I were chosen to spend a semester working with the building architects, contractors, and administrators in order to create educational signage that would shed light on the building, how it was made, and the eventual future that sustainable building design could create. As for my personal part in the project, I was responsible for various factoids placed throughout the building, and two large scale info-graphics. Looking back on the project I now see that the entire experience was extremely helpful, unfortunately it also taught me that mediocre measures to improve sustainable living will still get you tax exemptions.

TDS TDS CENTER PHOTO CONSTRUCT
This was a fun piece I did at the beginning of the project. Unfortunately it was not accepted as a piece for display but I still like it. The image is made up of 356 individual photographs, and can be printed full scale at 20 feet long by 8 feet high.

100%
This Building is powered by electricity in preparation for a green energy future.

50%
Half of the wood-based materials come from forest groups who are environmentally responsible.

TDS MATERIALS & THEIR ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACTS
This info-graphic communicates the various materials used in the construction of the building. The main focus being those materials which came from within the LEED certified local radius of five hundred miles, and the environmental impacts associated with the manufacturing of those materials and their transportation to Keene NH.

20%
Twenty percent of the TDS is made from recycled materials.

ASPEN TREES
The mold resistant acoustical ceiling tiles are made from fast growing aspen trees.

TDS ENERGY STORY
This info-graphic is completely focused on the building's energy sources, and how that energy is used throughout the TDS. The building is powered completely by electricity, which is commendable but only about thirty precent of the building's energy comes from sustainable sources, the remaining sixty precent comes from less commendable, more toxic sources.

ORANGE WINDOWS
The orange windows found throughout the building open and close based on environmental temperatures.
